Sr. Software Engineer~ Fastest growing internet company in the history of the internet!
Company Background:
Gilt Groupe provides access, by invitation only, to Men`s, Women`s, Children`s, Beauty, and Home coveted fashion and luxury brands at prices up to 70% off retail. Each sale lasts 36 hours and features hand selected styles from a single designer. The business model, based on urgency and scarcity, offers extraordinary goods at incredible prices, but only for a limited time. All of these sales occur daily at noon, driven by daily email reminders and alerts to a private membership. Most of the hot items are sold within the first 10 minutes, with the bulk of sales occurring within the first 90 minutes.
Technical Environment:
Java, Ruby, JRuby, JavaScript, AJAX and Cloud Computing (open source is encouraged)
Database Environment: Alternative Database environment like Voldemort
Experience in high-performance, transactional environments is a significant plus.
We like open source – we use it and we participate in projects – and we like transparent and open development processes. We’re not afraid to use non-mainstream technologies if they get the job done.

Key Responsibilities:
Hands- on Senior Software Engineer for ecommerce websites platform team, helping to develop and maintain the scalable data and services platform upon which the ecommerce sites are built. You will build high performance, highly scalable systems upon which we can build our steadily-growing business.
We’re looking for people that are smart, self-motivated and interested in technology.
Candidates will have:
Understanding of software development life cycle
At least 5 years experience in developing, delivering and supporting production-quality software, with a preference towards infrastructure and systems
We have no hard requirement for programming language expertise, but our preference is Java, C++ (and then others) in that order
An interest in using open source technology, as well as an interest in participating in open source projects
Experience with building or working with distributed, network-connected systems
Experience with relational databases (with non-relational a plus)
